With the aim to assist the prison administrators and policy makers to ensure that women’s gender-specific needs are adequately addressed during their period of incarceration, CHRI published this user's guide – Standards Behind Bars: Securing Rights of Women Prisoners. It sets out standards drawn from various national and international documents including Model Prison Manual 2016, the UN Standard Minimum Rules for Treatment of Prisoners (Nelson Mandela Rules) 2015 and the UN Rules for the Treatment of Female Prisoners and Non-Custodial Measures for Women Offenders (Bangkok Rules) 2010.

At present this handbook is available in HindiKannada & Punjabi also.
