FROM CLIMATE CRISIS TO HUMAN EXPLOITATION
EXAMINING MULTI-DIMENSIONAL VULNERABILITY IN SMALL ISLAND DEVELOPING STATES
FOCUS ON ANTIGUA & BARBUDA

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new research report examining the intersection between climate change and vulnerability to human exploitation, with a specific focus on Antigua and Barbuda within the broader Small Island Developing States (SIDS) context.
The report highlights how climate change and climate-related disasters create multidimensional vulnerabilities — including loss of livelihoods, displacement, food and water insecurity, and disrupted access to education and healthcare — which can significantly increase exposure to human exploitation.
It explores pathways for effective, rights-based responses, including policy considerations, resolutions, and recommendations.

This report and its launch in Antigua and Barbuda is a collaborative effort of Free the Slaves and the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI), with support from the Minderoo Foundation’s Walk Free initiative.
