Law The Goa Right to Information Act 1997 was the second right to information law enacted in India, after Tamil Nadu. It was passed on 31 July 1997 and received Governor's assent on 29 October 1997.

State Level RTI : Tamilnadu
Law Tamil Nadu was the first state in India to enact an access law, namely the Tamil Nadu Right to Information Act 1997. The Act was passed by the Legislative Assembly in the first half of 1997, received the assent of the Governor on 4 May 1997 and was notified the following day.

Background Until recently, Kerala had no comprehensive access to information law. The State Government did prepare a draft Right to Information Bill, which was released in 2002, but no action was taken to enact the law.

State Level RTI : Chhattisgarh
Background The State of Chhattisgarh was carved out of the existing state of Madhya Pradesh in 2000. Since that time, Chhattisgarh has not passed a comprehensive law on right to information.
