Position: Intern, Media and Freedom of Expression

Location: New Delhi, India

Duration: 6-10 Months

CHRI’s Media and Freedom of Expression team, apart from interfacing with the programmes, helping them build campaigns and outreach content on their work, working on research, developing, strategizing and disseminating content, carries out projects of its own in the field of media freedom, free speech and rights of journalists.

The team is seeking interns for a project on hate speech, dis/misinformation and the migration crisis in the critical initial months of COVID-19 in Bangladesh, India and Nepal. The position is based in New Delhi.

This role requires an energetic, dedicated and detail-oriented person who can assist the project team in executing multiple tasks.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with all project activities, including documentation, research, writing, media monitoring
  • Assist in the development of campaign materials and resources (text and visuals) and develop outreach and engagement on content
  • Copy write, edit and proofread content for online repository and website; liaise with web developer and IT Officer; update databases of media persons
  • Organise, manage and schedule campaign content for dissemination; planning and promotion of events

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Recent graduate in social sciences or mass media/journalism
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication and editing skills
  • Excellent computer skills with experience in Social Media platforms & Microsoft office
  • Knowledge of HTML, website content management and graphic design a plus
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Canva etc. and other visualisation tools is highly desired
  • Diligent, cool-headed, with good people skills

The position offers a modest monthly stipend.
