One day roundtable on Civil Society & Corporate Participation in Prisons held on 17th February, Jaipur

The Prison Reforms Programme of Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI) jointly with Rajasthan State Human Rights Commission (RSHRC) organised a one day roundtable on ‘Civil Society and Corporate Participation in Prisons’ on 17th February 2014. Commonwealth Human Rights Initiave vs. State of Rajasthan & Ors WP(Civil) 6459/2014

Based on its study on the shortage of police escorts and remanding practice in Rajasthan, CHRI filed a PIL in the Rajasthan High Court in July 2014. The case was admitted by the court on 31st October 2014. The PIL seeks adequate allocation of police escorts and direction to stop the practice of mechanical remand in Rajasthan.

The Missing Guards - A Study on Rajasthan’s Court Production System

This CHRI study analyses the court production system in Rajasthan. The court production system involves synergy of multiple actors and processes. It is only through their harmonious interaction that the right of undertrials to be produced in person before the courts every 15 days can be safeguarded.
