On 102nd birth anniversary of Nelson Mandela, CHRI through this Jail Mail intends to emphasise on the need for effective monitoring of prisons. As COVID-19 spreads, there is a need for robust prison oversight to check effective response to COVID-19 in prisons and that rights of prisoners are not compromised in the guise of fighting the pandemic.

28th May is celebrated as Menstrual Hygiene Day across the world. Started by the initiative of WASH United in 2014, it aims to spread awareness about menstrual hygiene management. In this jail mail, we raise issues pertaining to menstrual hygiene of women prisoners in India by highlighting our observations and recommendations regarding this.
