On June 3, 2020, the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI) joined leading international CSOs Civicus, FIDH and Forum- Asia in a statement to draw attention to a joint letter to the Peoples Majlis (Parliament) of the Maldives with regard to the seizure of funds of the Maldivian Democracy Network (MDN). MDN was earlier banned in an arbitrary manner and its funds were frozen.
