CHRI is looking for two (2) Project Officers based in India for a project assessing challenges, pressures faced by local media in India’s North East region.
Job Description:
Responsibilities include:
- Writing a report on the narratives of media practitioners and journalists of North East India
- Conducting long and short interviews for narrative building
- Organising discussions with journalists and media practitioners
- Conducting secondary research on issues related to local news media and journalism in NE India
- Designing social media campaign strategy and developing content (infographics, blogs, slides, videos etc.)
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- Graduate degree in social sciences or mass media/journalism. A Master’s degree or PG Diploma would strengthen the application.
- At least 3 years experience in the fields of development/ human rights/ journalism
- High levels of competence in research and analysis
- Experience in conducting interviews, documentation and narrative writing
- Ability to articulate clearly and simply (verbal and written) in English
- Ability to work with text, video or image formats
- Familiarity with various platforms such as Twitter, Instagram
- Knowledge of the context and issues of North East India
- Knowledge of recent trends in online media, including discrimination, dis/misinformation, fake news
