CHRI presents preliminary findings on the government’s efforts to fight corruption

How effective are the government’s efforts to combat corruption in India? According to the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) figures for 2015 released by Transparency International, India ranks 76th with a score of 38 out of 168 countries surveyed for people’s perceptions about corruption.

“Rough Roads to Equality: Women Police in Bangladesh”: CHRI’s ground breaking report now in Bangla

The Bangla version of the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative’s (CHRI) landmark report “Rough Roads to Equality: Women Police in Bangladesh” was launched in Dhaka, Bangladesh, at an event jointly organised by the Manusher Jonno Foundation and CHRI on 22 November, 2016. An English version of the report was released in the country a year ago.

On the International Day for the Abolition of Slavery we are launching an online petition, in partnership with Walk Free, to support Commonwealth action against Modern Slavery. This is vital because Modern Slavery is a Commonwealth issue. Across our 52 countries the Global Slavery Index estimates 24.9 million men, women, and children are living in slavery.
