CHRi's Statement On Covid-19 And Contemporary Forms of Slavery Submitted to the 45th Regular Session of the Un Human Rights Council

CHRI submitted a joint written statement on the 'Impact of COVID-19 on Contemporary Forms of Slavery', in collaboration with the Commonwealth 8.7 Network, for the 45th Regular Session of the Human Rights Council. Submitted under Agenda Item 3, the statement drew on the experience and expertise of the member organisations of the Commonwealth 8.

    1 in every 150 people in the Commonwealth are living in modern slavery.     This publication highlights Commonwealth government action and inaction to tackle contemporary forms of slavery. In 2018, Commonwealth governments committed to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Target 8.7.

Geneva, Switzerland CHRI delivered an oral statement, in collaboration with the Fiji CSO UPR Working Group, at thenbsp;Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Report Consideration of Fiji (Agenda Item 6) at the 43rd Regular Session of the UN Human Rights Council. CHRI was amongst the only four civil society organisations that made an intervention during Fiji#39;s UPR outcome adoption by the Council.
