Resources
While
beginning our work in India, we faced lot of difficulties in getting
across people and institutions concerned with Prisons, Prisoners,
Human Rights in the context of Prisons and Criminal Justice &
Crime Prevention.
Knowing that other NGOs, individuals and researchers working on
prison related issues are also similarly placed and to prevent
wastage of time, it is our endeavor to share the contacts that
we have built up over the years.
We have organized the resource contacts under the following heads
- United Nations, International Resources [International NGOs,
other national resources in some countries of Africa, Asia and
the United Kingdom] and Indian Resources. We have given brief
profiles of institutions and individuals and where the website
of a particular resource is comprehensive; we have allowed them
to speak for themselves. We thank Mr. Nikhil Roy, formerly with
the Penal Reform International, London for having helped us in
the initial stages for building up a good database of international
resources.
This list is not exhaustive and we would request the readers to
share information and contact details of other such individuals
and organizations which are doing good work in the fields mentioned
above.
We
have also recently compiled some information about detention in
other parts of the Commonwealth please click here.
