APPLYING THE LAW

What If A Third Party Is Involved: Appeals

Section 19(2) of the Central Act gives third parties the right to appeal against a decision to disclose information where they believe that the information should have been withheld. The third party needs to lodge their appeal within 30 days of the decision by the PIO.

Section 19(4) of the Central Act also enables third parties to make representations to the appellate bodies where an applicant for information is appealing a decision not to disclose information.
