Lok Police
CHRI comes out with a monthly tabloid called the Lok Police (People’s Police) and is specially meant for the constabulary and police personnel at the thana (Police Station/Outpost) level. These make up the cutting edge of policing all across India. It is meant to help connect police across states doing all sorts of work in difficult conditions. Lok Police in 2007 started out in Chattisgarh but with this renewed edition it now goes to Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and the Hindi heart belt of Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi, Haryana and Uttarakhand. The paper promotes an exchange of experiences and opinions about policing challenges and practices such that a culture of excellence is promoted and policing capacity and performance is enhanced. Through this initiative we believe we would be able to gauge the problem of constabulary and policing in general and to get their feedback on the kind of police they want and the kind of police they want to be part of. We value feedback and hope you will write to us with stories of your own, opinion and ideas about what you would like to see in our next edition.
