Political Affairs Division

The Political Affairs Division (PAD) of the Secretariat monitors international political developments and assists in political consensus building among governments. It further assists in the good offices role of the Secretary-General. PAD also facilitates the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting and the Commonwealth Foreign Minister's Meeting, in addition to being the contact point for the Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group. Considering the close links between many human rights issues and political developments, PAD is an important place for human rights advocacy.
