CHOGM and the Civil Society

CHOGM is accompanied by a number of civil society activities including the Commonwealth People's Forum, Commonwealth Youth Forum and Commonwealth Human Rights Forum. Another private sector event is the Commonwealth Business Forum. These are examples of fora organised parallel or prior to CHOGM where statements from participants are prepared and forwarded to CHOGM for consideration.

CHRI’s Advocacy at CHOGM

CHRI has put in a lot of effort during CHOGMs to advocate human rights issues. CHRI has been involved in organising and participating in many events, including coordinating the Commonwealth Human Rights Forum, as well as launching reports on issues of human rights concern in the Commonwealth, and engaging with government delegations, other civil society groups and the media. More detail of CHRI's advocacy at recent CHOGMs includes:

CHOGM 2007, Uganda

CHOGM 2005: Valletta, Malta

CHOGM 2003: Abuja, Nigeria

CHOGM 2001/2: Coolum, Australia
