Commonwealth Declarations

The Commonwealth has released a number of reports, declarations and communiqués of relevance to human rights. Many of these include commitments by the Commonwealth of action they will take towards promoting and protecting human rights.

Commonwealth Heads of Government

At the end of each Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), Heads of Government release a declaration that outlines the Commonwealth's views on a particular theme. For more information and to view these communiqués and declarations, click here.

Commonwealth Ministers

Various Ministers from the Commonwealth also meet on a regular basis to discuss areas of concern. Law, Education, Women's Affairs, Youth Affairs and Health ministers meet every 2-3 years, while Finance and Foreign Affairs ministers meet every year. At the end of their meetings, they also release documents - click here to read these.

Commonwealth Ministerial Action Group

This group looks at violations of the Harare Commonwealth Declaration. To read their statements, click here.

Other documents

From time to time, Expert Groups and Committees are established by the Commonwealth to investigate a particular area of concern. Click here to find out more and to read their reports.
