self-employed administrative officer


The Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative is seeking a part time administrative officer for our London office. CHRI is an international human rights non-governmental organisation working across the Commonwealth with a particular focus on issues around access to information and access to justice. CHRI is headquartered in India, with Offices in Ghana and London.

We are looking for an experienced professional to provide administrative support to the office. The role will be on a self-employed basis, and the majority of the work could be carried out remotely. The role is flexible, but will require an average commitment of 16 hours a week. Remuneration will be in line with the London living wage, and the initial contract will be for 35 weeks administrative support over a 12-month period. The officer will report to the Head of the London office.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing administrative procedures and processes,
  • Arranging meetings,
  • Supporting public events,
  • Creating and updating records, including financial records,
  • Acting as an administrative liaison with internal and/or external sources,
  • Preparing routine correspondence,
  • Overseeing expenses records.

The post holder will also be required to undertake any other general office admin duties reasonably requested.

Interview/Start Dates

Interviews will be conducted on the 8th and 9th March.

The contract is scheduled to commence on 19th March but there may be some flexibility.
