Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM)

The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) is a key event in the Commonwealth calendar, and is held every two years. Each time a different theme is selected for the Meeting and the Heads of Government issue statements on this theme, as well as setting policy directions for the Commonwealth.

A number of civil society events are held in parallel to the meeting of the Heads of Government, such as an NGO Forum, Youth Forum and Business Forum. Such events offer Commonwealth civil society important avenues to showcase their work, network and campaign. CHRI has been involved in organising and participating in such events, including launching our report on an issue of human rights concern in the Commonwealth.
