What We Do


The Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI) is an independent, non-partisan, international non-governmental organisation, mandated to ensure the practical realisation of human rights in the countries of the Commonwealth. In 1987, several Commonwealth associations founded CHRI because they felt that while the member countries had both a common set of values and legal principles from which to work and a forum within which to promote human rights, there was relatively little focus on human rights issues

Jaipur central jail inmates to know their case through 'E-history'

In order to facilitate the prisoners of the Jaipur central jail the Rajasthan state legal services authority and jail administration in association with commonwealth human rights initiative, an NGO started E-history facility on Sunday. The facility will enable the inmates to to know how much imprisonment is left to be served by them, when is the next day of court's presence, card of the visitors and would avail other facilities.

While governments oppose in courts the disclosure of Governor's reports to the Centre, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, as Leader of Opposition in Goa Assembly in 2007, had filed an RTI application seeking disclosure of state Governor's report.
